چکیده

Massively parallel multicomputers require a high-performance interconnection network. The physical channels which connect nodes in the network are the components that most commonly impose restrictions on the amount of data which can be communicated between nodes of the network. Several di erent schemes for maximizing the bandwidth of physical interconnection channels are examined. Conventional technology centers on 5V electrical signalling. Within this paradigm, there are several di erent methods of maximizing throughput of a channel, given its limited bandwidth. Simplex and duplex channels are examined, as well as arbitration protocols and transmission line pipelining. Non-conventional technologies which achieve higher bandwidth transmission through low-voltage signalling and ber optic communication are also examined. For the present, it is expected that most networks will continue to use electrical signalling with low-voltage signalling because ber optic hardware is too expensive. As technology changes, though, it may become more common for networks to be built out of optical or other new technologies.

Poll-before-Data Multiple Access

We introduce a new medium access control (MAC) protocol named PDMA (Poll-before-Data Multiple Access). Most prior MAC protocols aimed at avoiding collisions of data packets in networks with hidden terminals are senderinitiated, in that the sender transmits a short request to send (RTS) asking the receiver for permission to transmit. In contrast, in PDMA, when a data packet arrives at the receiv...

Wave and Equation Based Rate Control (WEBRC) Building Block

This document specifies Wave and Equation Based Rate Control (WEBRC), which provides rate and congestion control for data delivery. WEBRC is specifically designed to support protocols using IP multicast. It provides multiple-rate, congestion-controlled delivery to receivers, i.e., different receivers joined to the same session may be receiving packets at different rates depending on the bandwid...

A Comparison of Sender-Initiated and Receiver-Initiated Reliable Multicast Protocols1

Sender-initiated reliable multicast protocols based on the use of positive acknowledgments (ACKs) can suffer performance degradation as the number of receivers increases. This degradation is due to the fact that the sender must bear much of the complexity associated with reliable data transfer (e.g., maintaining state information and timers for each of the receivers and responding to receivers’...

Relevant information extraction for discriminative training applied to speaker identification

4.1 INTRODUCTION The simplest form of a flow control scheme merely adjusts the rate at which a sender produces data to the rate at which the receiver can absorb it. 1 More elaborate schemes can protect against the deletion, insertion, duplication, and reordering of data as well. But let us first look at the simpler version of the problem. It is used To make sure that data are not sent faster th...

RFC 5690 TCPM - ACK Congestion Control February

This document describes a possible congestion control mechanism for acknowledgement (ACKs) traffic in TCP. The document specifies an end-to-end acknowledgement congestion control mechanism for TCP that uses participation from both TCP hosts: the TCP data sender and the TCP data receiver. The TCP data sender detects lost or Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN)-marked ACK packets, and tells the...
